Background

As you may know the City Climate Finance Gap Fund was launched in September 2020 with the aim to help cities in low and middle-income countries strategize, plan and prepare climate mitigation and adaptation projects in their urban environment. It is financed by the German and Luxembourg governments and it is delivered by two implementing agencies, the World Bank and the European Investment Bank, the latter in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and supported by GCoM, C40, ICLEI and the CCFLA.

In order to raise awareness among potential beneficiaries, we are organising a webinar series between April 21st – April 27th. A calendar invitation with a connection link on the session of your choice will be circulated in due course with detailed information on the agenda and the topics to be covered. The series will be conducted in English, selected sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Portuguese and Spanish or French.

This webinar is intended as an opportunity for cities, local authorities and their partners to get a better understanding of what the Gap Fund is, how it works and what type of support it can provide for which projects/initiatives and to help cities submit Expressions of Interest to the Fund that address key issues and concerns. The event will also provide some examples of the types of projects that are being brought forward to the Fund and will address issues around eligibility criteria, eligible sectors, project development stage and the nature of the support provided.
